Regina Spektor - My Dear Acquaintance (A Happy New Year)

Happy New Year

Actually the last year wasn't so good for me. I did make some achievement but it didn't reach my expectations! I planed to do a lot of things but only a few got done, so I had to collect the unfinished goals and place them in a new list that include my new years goals which left me with 2011 item on the list and I'm already felling the pressure just by talking about them
I really hope that I stick to them and not be as lazy and careless as I was in 2010. I wish that this year I have peace and a bigger understanding for my self, I wish to see the people I love happy and in a good health, to reconnect with some of my friends. and I wish the absolute happiness for all.

My advice to every one who's looking to a rewarding accomplishment this year is to set your goals, plan well, pray a lot, be positive, and don't expect this year to bring a miracle, If you want something you make it happen. you get it done yourselves

Reasons You're Not Seeing Results and How to Change That

Like all living things, our bodies change, evolve, and expand with time. Some growth — like professional and personal achievements — makes us want to celebrate, while other types — like an expanding waistline or bigger number on the scale — are less than cheer worthy. If you've noticed some weight gain or been unable to drop weight despite concerted efforts, take note of our reminders and guides so you can start 2011 off in the know and ready to make the change you want.

Sneak Peek: The Hello Kitty Makeup Collection

Sephora's makeup collaboration with Hello Kitty isn't launching until next month, but its beauty insiders were treated to a sneak peek this weekend. The color collection is decidedly more girlie than Kitty's 2009 MAC collection, and if you like all things cute, you'll like this. See the entire collection after the jump.

MAC Venomous Villains Makeup Collection

Once upon a time, MAC teamed up with Disney for a limited-edition collection. Rumors swirled about Venomous Villains before its September launch, and the cartoon-adorned goods disappeared almost immediately after hitting counters. Disney aficionados and color devotees alike queued up to grab makeup inspired by Dr. Facilier, Maleficent, the Evil Queen, and Cruella de Vil — and whether they wanted green glitter or subdued hues, there was something for everyone. Like our readers, we loved the packaging, concept, and end result of this pairing. The only puzzle in our mind: Dr. Facilier's Magically Cool powder is just about the only thing that hasn't sold out. The cool-to-the-touch liquid highlighting powder is one of the most innovative products we touched all year.

5 Superfoods For Super Skin

written by top dermatologist Dr. Nicholas V. Perricone for Daily Makeover.
Did you know that the foods you eat can help you look better too? Foods that are rich in nutrients, low in calories and that have myriad health benefits are called superfoods. Many of these superfoods can also have tremendous benefit for your skin. Here are five superfoods that you can incorporate into your diet now to reveal healthier, younger-looking skin.
To find out what superfoods can help amp up your skincare regime, just keep reading.
Olives & Extra Virgin Olive Oil
We need a source of good fats in our diet to help us absorb nutrients from our vegetables and fruits, keep our cells supple, skin glowing, brains sharp and mood upbeat. We also need dietary fat in order to burn fat. Extra virgin olive oil contains oleic acid, which helps us to absorb the omega-3s and other vitamins and nutrients from our foods.
Beans & Lentils
When it comes to maintaining beautiful skin and keeping unwanted pounds at bay, beans and lentils are a body's best friend. They are very low-glycemic and unlike sugary, starchy foods, won't cause a rapid rise in blood sugar. They are anti-inflammatory foods, key in preventing dull, dry, wrinkled sagging skin and body fat.
Green Foods
Green foods are young cereal grasses like barley grass and wheat grass. Nutritionally, they are close cousins to dark green leafy vegetables, but offer greater levels of "nutrient density." An ounce of concentrated green foods contains more of the beneficial phytonutrients found in an ounce of green vegetables. Green foods detoxify the body to keep skin clear and radiant.
Fish
Wild salmon and other cold water fish (salmon, sardines, herring, trout, etc.) are great sources of protein, necessary to maintain and repair the body — including the skin on a cellular level. These fish are high in anti-inflammatory omega 3 essential fatty acids, which keeps skin radiant, supple and wrinkle-free, moods upbeat and brain functioning at optimal levels.
Green Tea
Green tea contains polyphenols, which help eliminate inflammation-producing free radicals. Polyphenols protect healthy cells from cancer causing DNA damage, while ushering cancer cells to their death. Another remarkable finding is the power of green tea polyphenols known as EGCG to reactivate dying skin cells. Researchers consider this reactivation to be a potential benefit to skin diseases such as psoriasis, ulcers, rosacea, wounds — and wrinkles.

10 Skills You Need to Succeed at Almost Anything

What does it take to succeed? A positive attitude? Well, sure, but that’s hardly enough. The Law of Attraction? The Secret? These ideas might act as spurs to action, but without the action itself, they don’t do much.

Success, however it’s defined, takes action, and taking good and appropriate action takes skills. Some of these skills (not enough, though) are taught in school (not well enough, either), others are taught on the job, and still others we learn from general life experience.

Below is a list of general skills that will help anyone get ahead in practically any field, from running a company to running a gardening club. Of course, there are skills specific to each field as well – but my concern here is with the skills that translate across disciplines, the ones that can be learned by anyone in any position.

1. Public Speaking
The ability to speak clearly, persuasively, and forcefully in front of an audience – whether an audience of 1 or of thousands – is one of the most important skills anyone can develop. People who are effective speakers come across as more comfortable with themselves, more confident, and more attractive to be around. Being able to speak effectively means you can sell anything – products, of course, but also ideas, ideologies, worldviews. And yourself – which means more opportunities for career advancement, bigger clients, or business funding.

2. Writing
Writing well offers many of the same advantages that speaking well offers: good writers are better at selling products, ideas, and themselves than poor writers. Learning to write well involves not just mastery of grammar but the development of the ability to organize one’s thoughts into a coherent form and target it to an audience in the most effective way possible. Given the huge amount of text generated by almost every transaction – from court briefs and legislation running into the thousands of pages to those foot-long receipts you get when you buy gum these days – a person who is a master of the written word can expect doors to open in just about every field.

3. Self-Management
If success depends on effective action, effective action depends on the ability to focus your attention where it is needed most, when it is needed most. Strong organizational skills, effective productivity habits, and a strong sense of discipline are needed to keep yourself on track.

4. Networking
Networking is not only for finding jobs or clients. In an economy dominated by ideas and innovation, networking creates the channel through which ideas flow and in which new ideas are created. A large network, carefully cultivated, ties one into not just a body of people but a body of relationships, and those relationships are more than just the sum of their parts. The interactions those relationships make possible give rise to innovation and creativity – and provide the support to nurture new ideas until they can be realized.

5. Critical Thinking
We are exposed to hundreds, if not thousands, of times more information on a daily basis than our great-grandparents were. Being able to evaluate that information, sort the potentially valuable from the trivial, analyze its relevance and meaning, and relate it to other information is crucial – and woefully under-taught. Good critical thinking skills immediately distinguish you from the mass of people these days.

6. Decision-Making
The bridge that leads from analysis to action is effective decision-making – knowing what to do based on the information available. While not being critical can be dangerous, so too can over-analyzing, or waiting for more information before making a decision. Being able to take in the scene and respond quickly and effectively is what separates the doers from the wannabes.

7. Math
You don’t have to be able to integrate polynomials to be successful. However, the ability to quickly work with figures in your head, to make rough but fairly accurate estimates, and to understand things like compound interest and basic statistics gives you a big lead on most people. All of these skills will help you to analyze data more effectively – and more quickly – and to make better decisions based on it.

8. Research
Nobody can be expected to know everything, or even a tiny fraction of everything. Even within your field, chances are there’s far more that you don’t know than you do know. You don’t have to know everything – but you should be able to quickly and painlessly find out what you need to know. That means learning to use the Internet effectively, learning to use a library, learning to read productively, and learning how to leverage your network of contacts – and what kinds of research are going to work best in any given situation.

9. Relaxation
Stress will not only kill you, it leads to poor decision-making, poor thinking, and poor socialization. So be failing to relax, you knock out at least three of the skills in this list – and really more. Plus, working yourself to death in order to keep up, and not having any time to enjoy the fruits of your work, isn’t really “success”. It’s obsession. Being able to face even the most pressing crises with your wits about you and in the most productive way is possibly the most important thing on this list.

10. Basic Accounting
It is a simple fact in our society that money is necessary. Even the simple pleasures in life, like hugging your child, ultimately need money – or you’re not going to survive to hug for very long. Knowing how to track and record your expenses and income is important just to survive, let alone to thrive. But more than that, the principles of accounting apply more widely to things like tracking the time you spend on a project or determining whether the value of an action outweighs the costs in money, time, and effort. It’s a shame that basic accounting isn’t a required part of the core K-12 curriculum.

What Else?
Surely there are more important skills I’m not thinking of (which is probably why I’m not telling Bill Gates what to do!) – what are they? What have I missed? What lessons have you learned that were key to your successes – and what have you ignored to your peril?

How to Improve Your Spelling Skills

Fair or not, your spelling skills are used throughout your life to evaluate you as a person. Several months ago, the results of a study of Fortune 500 human resource employees were published, saying that of the people they had interviewed, some 85% threw away a resume or cover letter that had as little as one or two spelling errors. The logic was, if you didn’t care enough about your application to make sure everything was spelled correctly, then you couldn’t be trusted to care enough about your job – where a tiny spelling error might undo an important business deal or cost the company money.
But what if you’re a reasonably intelligent person with a fairly good sense of written style who, for one reason or another, just doesn’t spell very well? How do you improve your spelling, short of going back to elementary school and sitting through four or five grades of English class again? There are books and lists of commonly misspelled words available, but they’re too overwhelming to be very useful. Looking things up in the dictionary isn’t all that helpful if you don’t know already that you don’t know how to spell something — or if you can’t spell it well enough to find it!
Those of us who spell well have a hard time explaining it, too – it just seems like a natural gift (and of course people who don’t spell well often blame their lack of that “gift”). We can tell people how to spell particular words, but explaining how to spell better overall is trickier. It doesn’t help that we often look down on people who spell badly, seeing them as people of little education or little intelligence – or both.
Wanting to help my kids learn to spell better, I went looking for some techniques and practices that teachers use to teach what is, after all, just a skill, like riding a bike or learning long division. Here are some of the things I found out:
There is no substitute for reading a lot. Just as we learn spoken language by hearing lots of people speaking, we learn written language, including spelling, by reading what a lot of people write. Spelling is not about how a word sounds, it’s about how it looks on the page, which means you have to look at a lot of words on the page to learn how they are spelled. End of story, really – the first step to improving your spelling has to be to read a lot (and it should go without saying, read a lot of stuff that’s spelled correctly; txtng ur frnds may b fun bt isn’t going 2 hlp ur spllng).
Make a list of your commonly misspelled words. When you catch yourself spelling the same word wrong over and over, write it down somewhere (back of a Moleskine is a good place). When you get a chance, look it up and put the correct spelling next to it. (Make sure you mark which is correct!) Unlike the massive lists of “commonly misspelled words” in the back of dictionaries and the like, this is a custom list that reflects the words and spelling rules you have trouble with – so instead of a huge list of Other People’s Problems you have a custom-made guide to your own.
Use mnemonics. There’s an MnM in mnemonic! Mnemonics are memory tricks or devices, like “i before e except after c”. Since spelling rules are often abstract and, in English, even contradictory (what sound does “gh” make?), they are hard to memorize by themselves. Mnemonics “sneak in” through a different part of your mind, by rhyming, presenting an image, or forming a pattern that makes better sense than “that’s just how it’s spelled”.Here are some examples of spelling mnemonics:
It’s necessary to have 1 Collar and 2 Socks.
A piece of pie
You hear with your ear.
Pull apart to separate.
Definite has 2 i’s in it
There is a place just like here.

Weight-Loss Winner: A Diet High in Fiber, Low in Calories

like French fries; others swear that shunning carbs in favor of all-protein grub is key. Many popular weight loss plans recommend that dieters consume specific ratios of fat, protein and carbohydrates. (Some say the secret to losing weight is forgoing greasy, fatty foodsThe Zone diet, for instance, prescribes 40 percent carbs, preferably complex carbs like veggies and whole grains, 30 percent protein and 30 percent fat). But a study published today in The New England Journal of Medicine suggests that the smartest way to lose weight is to eat heart healthy foods (think: Mediterranean diet—lots of veggies and fish, limited amounts of red meat) and reduce your caloric intake.

"Reduced calorie, heart-healthy diets can help you lose weight, regardless of the proportions of fat, protein and carbohydrates," says study co-author Catherine Loria, a nutritional epidemiologist at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute in Bethesda, Md.

The researchers, led by Frank Sacks, a professor of cardiovascular disease prevention at the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston, focused their study on 811 overweight and obese adults ages 30 to 70 in Boston and Baton Rouge, La. ("Overweight" includes those with a body mass index (BMI) between 25 and 29.9; people are considered obese if they have a BMI over 30. Exercise is better in the morning if you have a stressful job, study suggests

Taking exercise before work is more effective if you have a stressful job, as mental fatigue can affect physical performance, say scientists.
Researchers found mentally tired people will reach physical exhaustion quicker than those that have a rested mind.
Physiologists at Bangor University discovered that even though being exhausted after work did not actually affect your muscles, it did make it harder for people to exercise so vigorously.
They believe that it makes people "perceive" that exercise is more strenuous and could lead to treatment for chronic fatigue syndrome.
"People with chronic fatigue report that they lack energy and experience 'brain fog', just like the mentally fatigued participants in this study," said Dr Samuele Marcora.
"In addition, as in this study, people with chronic fatigue perceive exercise to be more difficult despite physiological responses considered normal during exercise."
The study suggests that athletes and stressed workers would be better to train when their minds are fresh although researchers said any exercise was still beneficial.
"People who exercise after work should continue doing so, even if mentally fatigued, "Dr Marcora said.
"Most people work out at a moderate intensity, which still gives plenty of physiological and psychological benefit, including relief from stress and improved mental performance."
The scientists came to their conclusions after 16 volunteers were asked to exercise on a bike, half the time when their mind was fresh and half the time after 90 minutes of mentally fatiguing work.
Participants stopped exercising on average 15 per cent earlier when they were mentally fatigued.

this news will be very good for people who suffer from work stress

The Health Secrets of Yogurt

Yogurt has billions of good bacteria which are good for the body especially the digestion system. It is even easier to digest compare to ordinary milk.

Here are a few reasons why you should add yogurt in your daily diet;

-Easy to digest

Yogurt is easy to digest compared to milk. It also has active bacteria to help in the production of lactase enzyme. Culture process will convert lactose into glucose and galactose, make it easier for absorption.

-Good for intestine

Yogurt contains good bacteria such as lacto bacteria. These bacteria will increase the amount of good bacteria in colon and reduce the risk of colon cancer.

-Help in nutrition absorption process

Yogurt increases the absorption of calcium and vitamin B. Lactic acid in yogurt help in the digestion of calcium for easier absorption.

-Increase the body immunity system

Research had been done on 68 people that take 2 cups of yogurt a day and it shows positive result. All of them have high interferon level.
-Healing the infection in digestion system

Virus and digestion system disorder will lead to small cut on the intestine layer, especially the cells that produce lactase. We will face lactose intolerance in our digestion system for 1 to 2 months. Doctor always suggested yogurt for healing process because it contain lots of lactase enzyme.

-Reduce fungi infection

Having yogurt in your everyday diet will reduce the growth of fungi on vagina. This will reduce the risk of fungi infection on vagina.

-Rich with calcium

A glass of yogurt contains around 450 milligrams of calcium. This mineral is important for colon’s health.

-Source of protein

A glass of yogurt contains 10- 15 grams of protein or around 20% protein needed by body everyday. The fermentation process make the protein in yogurt become easily digested.

-Reduce the cholesterol level

Researcher found that living bacteria in yogurt will assimilate with cholesterol.

about a whole new way of exercising, one that everyone is guaranteed to enjoy

What is Zumba Fitness?
Zumba Fitness is a work out consisting of cardio interval training and a bit of resistance. It uses dance moves and non traditional aerobics set to Latin music to achieve a 45 to 60 minute fat blasting work out. Originally created by "Beto" Perez, Zumba Fitness now has thousands of instructors all across the nation and even in other

What are the benefits of Zumba Fitness?
The best thing about Zumba Fitness is the number of great benefits to it. The first is that it's enjoyable and easy to do. You don't feel like you're working out, which increases the likelihood that you'll do it more consistently, which is better for weight loss and cardiovascular health. Unlike certain other dance style aeorbics like hip hop dancing, Zumba Fitness is easy to catch on to, with people getting the moves completely after just a couple of classes. Additionally, for those who don't feel comfortable going to a class, there are DVDs you can do in the privacy of your own home. Zumba Fitness even has a DVD for people not used to exercise, or who can't yet handle the regular work out, so everyone gets a chance to try it.

Zumba Fitness also has amazing physiological benefits, including cardiovascular conditioning, muscle strength, and weight loss when coupled with the proper eating plan. Because Zumba Fitness incorporates interval

training, your body burns more calories trying to adapt to a certain pace. In fact, you can burn up to 1000 calories in an hour of Zumba Fitness. All of this will not only make you look better, but it'll strengthen your heart and lungs and make other exercise, like running, easier for you.

Finally, I just want to touch on two common problems for the novice exerciser which Zumba Fitness completely takes care of. Extra expense and injury. A lot of work out DVDs require you to purchase additional items such as resistance bands or weights. You don't need anything extra for Zumba Fitness. Additionally, aerobic workouts stepping can cause knee injury and weakness if the exerciser isn't careful. Because Zumba Fitness incorporates so many different moves, a repetitive strain injury is highly unlikely. Like other classes, however, you will have great fun making new friends.

Recap
So, just to recap, let's see what makes Zumba Fitness so great.
1. It's enjoyable and easy to do.
2. it's easily accessible because of the thousands of available trainers and the DVDs.
3. There are different intensity versions of Zumba Fitness, so everyone can try and learn it with ease.
4. Zumba Fitness is very affordable, whether you're taking the classes or working out at home with the DVDs.

6. Zumba Fitness incorporates resistance training to help you with muscle toning.
7. You'll get great cardiovascular conditioning that strengthens your heart and lungs.
8. All you need is the class or the DVDs. There is no costly extra equipment to buy.
9. A decreased risk of repetitive strain injuries. 10. If you go to a class, you'll be sure to make great new friends. With all these great benefits, what are you waiting for? Grab a copy of the DVD set or sign up for a class.

And you should tell them the truth, tell them to stop running from their emotions, to take down that wall they have built, brick by brick. What will you achieve being separated from the world like that? Avoiding loneliness will only bring you further into the centre of it.
If you never knew you can never lack, you say. But your fingertips know, your skin knows, your eyes when you close them know. Whether or not you want to, you will feel it. You may as well take control of the emotion, own it. Temporary, but worth it.

Fernando Botero

href="http://www.topofart.com/images/artists/Fernando_Botero/paintings/botero030.jpg">

Fernando Botero was born the second of three children in MedellĂn, Antioquia, in the mountains of Colombia. His parents were David Botero and Flora Angulo. David Botero, a salesman who traveled by horseback, died when the boy was age four, and his mother worked as a seamstress. An uncle took a major role in his life. Although isolated from art as presented in museums and other cultural institutes, Botero was influenced by the Baroque style of the colonial churches and the rich life of the city.
In 1944, after Botero attended a Jesuit school, Botero's uncle sent him to a school for matadors for two years. In 1948, at the age of 16, Botero published his first illustrations in the Sunday supplement of the El Colombiano daily paper. He used the money he was paid to attend high school at the Liceo de Marinilla de Antioquia. 1948 was the year Botero was first exhibited, in a group show along with other artists from the region

Painting is ever recognized as among the highest-appreciated arts requiring great talents from artists. There are lots of paintings in the world considered as state-of-the-arts created by famous professional artists. It's so amazing really loved it

I remember my first time in Paris. I wished I could move there, to reside permanently among such culture and history!! It is the center of culture, fashion, architecture, beauty, and food! I STILL wish I could live there, but sadly it's too difficult to obtain residency :(
Every thing around me shining with colorful light.I was thinking today , why don't we became the happiest people in the world ?.We as muslims have the best directions to live our life. You know what .. Hmm , just imagine that the whole world is a new machine , you will not be able to use it in correct way unless you read the catalogue right ? . If you don't follow the instructions written you will not get the maximum benefit from it that's if you become lucky and the machine keeps working . That is exactly my philosophy about the life.Life is made by Alla subhana wa taa'la and he sends many holly books tells the right way to deal with it.With the development of the world , the book changes. In that time , using an old catalogue will be in fain !.Following the exact instructions will help you to live the happiest life ever !.It doesn't mean that you will never suffer , or face harsh fulness , absolutely you will as long as we are in the life not a heaven, but with following what Allah the almighty said you will be satisfied from every and each thing happen to you , simply because you are totally believe that he chooses the best for you.Not to mention that we - as Muslims - are rewarded for every single action we maid , it's not only the actions , it's more than that .We are rewarded for our intentions !.When we are in a hard cases and be patient with that we are rewarded. When we are in happy cases and enjoying the pleasures we're given and thank Allah for his blessings .. we're rewarded !.After all that and more .Haven't we became the happiest creatures in the world ?

How To Make the Perfect Cup of Nescafé Gold Coffee

I just finished reading a fabulous book – Happy for No Reason – 7 Steps to Being Happy from the
Inside Out by Marci Shimoff. I heard Marci speak at the eWomenNetwork Conference in Dallas last
month and loved her presentation.
Six years ago (August 2, 2002) I took early retirement from my public relations job with the Social
Security Administration and founded Money Wise Women. I was inspired to take early retirement
after reading two quotes:
“You gain strength, courage & confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in
the face. You must do the thing you think you cannot do.” Eleanor Roosevelt

“Our purpose in life is to find our gift, perfect it and give it back to others.” Unknown

I’ve always been a happy person, but my decision to step outside my comfort zone six years ago
created a happiness in my heart, spirit and soul. Today I’m living a life of prosperity, which I describe
as a life I love without worrying about financial constraints.
Are you ready to live a life of prosperity and happiness? If so, I recommend you begin by reading
Happy for No Reason.
Marci Shimoff interviewed 100 people whom she refers to as the Happy 100. Their qualities included:
• Having a sense of lightness or buoyancy
• Feeling alive, vital, energetic
• Having a sense of flow, openness
• Feeling love and compassion for yourself and others
• Having passion about your life and purpose
• Feeling gratitude, forgiveness • Feeling gratitude, forgiveness
• Being at peace with live
• Being full present in the moment
Happy for No Reason discusses the seven steps to being happy from the inside out. Step 1 is Taking
Ownership of Your Happiness. Begin by ridding yourself of the happiness robbers – complaining,
blaming and feeling shame. Know that it’s never too late to kick these robbers out of your life. The
three happiness habits for empowerment are (1) Focus on the solution, (2) Look for the lesson and
the gift, and (3) Make peace with yourself.
I’ve always believed that everything happens in life for a reason, and there are lessons to be learned
from every situation–good or bad. I always ask myself: What’s the lesson to be learned from this
situation?
Step 3 of being happy for no reason is Let Love Lead. The three happiness habits are (1) Focus on
gratitude, (2) Practice forgiveness, and (3) Spread loving kindness.

Dear X, I know you need support, and you've been in a situation where someone needs to discuss it with you because things didn't go the way you like. I know that. But I don't want to open a discussion with you, because I can't really take any of your problems because I already don't feel very optimistic or comfortable with my own life right now. So, I just left you behind. I am sorry

PS: X symbolize different people

Painting from Serena’s room

I am not much into cereal for breakfast anymore, but I do remember that awesome pink milk you get after eating Froot Loops. Too good.

What in the actual ?!

DISTANT MEMORY IN CHANEL * * ORIGINAL PAINTING PORTRAIT

Born in New York, Wallace was most inspired by Modern Artists with overt influences from “Big Eye – Art” of the 1960’s. She describes her work as follows: “My paintings are intended to extol the Goddess in all gals with a sense of whimsical glamour, humor/parody and designer wearing attitude. Without any preconceived notions, each Glamour Gal™ takes on a life of her own with an imposing personal statement. Using simplistic lines, color and expression, without apology, I leave it up to the distinct viewer to determine the appeal”….Lorna Wallace
THE GLAMOUR GALS™ emanate from her early love of designer wear, lending an iconic flavor to the paintings. Creating her own unadulterated style of work from her Uptown Girl Studio, she is without a doubt a new generation of Contemporary Pop Artists. Her style, Fashion Pop Art, is an expression of uncritical devotion with an alluring appeal of charm, beauty and wit exuding from each gal created and is well sought after. ”We have a future POP ART ICON here folks. Buy her work while it’s affordable”…a “Wall” collector.

Benefits of Pilates

Pilates is the exercise of choice for dancers, gymnasts, and a host of famous Hollywood celebrities, and now it finds itself firmly entrenched in the mainstream. So why is pilates so hot?

Pilates incredible popularity can be traced to the fact that it provides its faithful practitioners with benefits that you simply can't get through traditional aerobics/strength training format.

1. Makes You into Muscle Man

If want a long, lean look without bulky muscles, but with all the strength. Would you like to build strength and endurance without getting the muscle man look? If so, pilates may be just what you have been searching for.
There's a reason that pilates is the exercise of choice for gymnasts and professional dancers. Most conventional workouts tend to create bulky muscle. Why is this? In most workouts, the emphasis is placed on repetition and building strong muscles.

This causes already-strong (think: big) muscles to get even strong, and thus bigger. Pilates does not rely on frequent repetition, and thus no overgrown muscles. Pilates focuses on the whole body, not just on sections of muscles.

2. Increases the Strength of Stabilizer Muscles

There are many benefits that one can achieve through a proper use of the pilates program. One of the most significant points of the pilates program is it's ability to increase the strength of stabilizer muscles that may not commonly be worked out in a standard exercise program.

Also, since pilates stresses the use of graceful and fluid movements, it can be a great way to get a better sense of the kinesthetics of your body. The sense of body that you can achieve through pilates is quite significant, and many find that they are better able to balance themselves regardless of the position that they are in.

3. A Mind-Body Workout That Strengthens Your Whole Body

Another one of the benefits of Pilates is that it engages the mind and enhances body awareness. Like yoga, tai chi, and Asian martial arts, Pilates is not just a workout for your body. Joseph H. Pilates studied yoga, martial arts, and other ancient mind-body activities and included a strong philosophical foundation into the practice of Pilates.

Pilates not only helps tone your body, but your mind and spirit as well. The smooth, precise and flowing movements of Pilates are designed to make you more mindful of your body.

Breath movement is also emphasized to put you in touch with how breath moves through your body. Pilates has been demonstrated to reduce stress, anxiety, and helps lift depression. The mind-body connection is fundamental to the study and practice of pilates.

4. Pilates Strengthens Your Core like No Other Exercise

Another one of the benefits of Pilates is that the increased amount of strength that one can achieve in the 'core' of the body. The term core refers to the muscles in and around the area of the abdominal muscles and the back.
Proper breathing control is also stressed in pilates, adding to the numerous list of benefits that one can attain through regular use of the exercise program.

5. Prevents You from Future Injuries

Pilates strengthens your body and helps prevent future injuries. Pilates helps to condition the whole body, not just certain muscles. This helps balance the muscle and strength of the body. Since no set of muscles is ever over or under trained, there is less risk for injury. The body becomes more fluid and supple, protecting against injury.

6. Helps You Become Efficient With Your Body

Last, but not the least one of the benefits of Pilates is that it teaches you how to become efficient with your body. Very few exercises can help your body become more efficient in its movement.
Why is efficiency so important? Being efficient means that your body moves in a way, that is smoother, safer, and less prone to injury. By practicing pilates on a regular basis, you can train your body more to move in a much safer and more efficient manner.

Benefits of Pilates for Older Adults

The benefits of pilates have been particularly noted in older adults. Older adults are more likely to suffer from symptoms of arthritis, including stiff and painful joints. Pilates practice has also been lauded for its ability to help prevent injury.
Even adults undergoing serious rehabilitation therapy can use Pilates to increase their range of motion and overall muscle strength. But is Pilates safe for all adults? Who should avoid participating in a Pilates program, and who is more likely to benefit from the program?

Consult your medical professional if you have any doubts about your pilates program. If you are suffering from severe degeneration or physical pain, you should take extra care before beginning a pilates program.
You should never feel pain while practicing pilates. If you do, you know that there is something wrong. Don't be afraid to pull back if you feel overwhelmed.
Pilates was designed to progress naturally from one movement to another. If you feel stopped at one movement, don't give up. Start at the beginning and work your way back to the areas you found most challenging.

Other Benefits of Pilates
Tone and build long, lean muscles without bulk.
Reduce stress, relieve tension, and boost energy through deep stretching.
Restore postural alignment.
Create a stronger, more flexible spine.
Increase joint range of motion.
Improve circulation.
Heighten neuromuscular coordination.
Offer relief from back pain and joint stress.
Correct over-training of muscle groups which can lead to stress and injury.
Enhance mobility, agility and stamina.
Compliment sports training and develop functional fitness for daily life activity.
Improve the way your body looks and feels.

That's why I love Pilates

Chocolate Could Become a Rarity Within Twenty Years.
According to the Cocoa Research Association, the human race is consuming more cocoa than is being produced. According to John Mason, executive director and founder of the Nature Conservation Research Center, “In 20 years chocolate will be like caviar. It will become so rare and so expensive that the average Joe just won’t be able to afford it.”

It is time for me to go and weep in a corner. Shaking my body back and forth.

Eugenio Recuenco | Vogue 2006

Vogue 1952

VOGUE commissioned YouGov to survey the glossy magazine market this week to find out just how the Vogue reader has changed her mind about fashion as the recession has taken hold.
As a result, they've sorted us, the "recession-centric consumers", into three categories:
The Die-Hards: Financially confident, they need to look good but they're aware that others might be in a less comfortable position. And they say things like: "I'm feeling the recession not so much economically, but more as a trend of paring back." They search out quality and are focusing on trusted, heritage brands.
The New Modests: "I am now buying more good quality items that I love and know will last" - they work on more intelligent shopping for versatile items. Statement pieces allowed.
The Reformed: "I'm having to do much more research into the products that I'm buying." They're these days taking a more thrifty attitude to fashion and beauty but maintaining a fundamental need to look and feel good.
After this year's survey - Vogue's biggest ever - there's no doubt that we're shopping greener, and leaner than before - but we've all still got our eye on the trends (and the vast majority of us still consider Vogue to be the primary source of knowledge about them - 73 per cent of women asked agreed that Vogue is "the fashion bible"). Meanwhile the heritage of the heavyweight brands is keeping them in our (albeit very carefully thought about) wishlists.
Quality is key and Vogue is where you expect to find it. The famous "black dress test" - for which respondents were shown a neutral black dress and asked to state how much they thought it would cost if they saw it in particular magazines is yet more proof. Women felt the dress would be of a higher value if they saw it on the pages of Vogue (average £831). (In fact it was by Herve Leger and cost £661.)
"The halo that surrounds Vogue's brand image burns brighter than ever before," says Stephen Quinn, publishing direct of the magazine. "Times are tough. But the market is not dead. Women want to look good despite the recession. They are still investing in fashion and beauty and luxury."
And our favourite quote of the survey? From Emma, a participant in the survey who from today will know herself as one of the New Modests: "It's OK to be redundant... it's not okay to look redundant."

I really like it I'm going to order soon!

Argan

Argan oil is made from green nuts of Argan tree found mostly in Morocco and sparsely in Algeria and Israel. It is the rarest vegetable oil because of scarcity of these trees in the world. This rare oil is highly valued because of its wide array of uses. It is highly priced owing to its limited production. Its recognized cosmetic benefits have made its demand ever increasing in the world.

My father bought me some argan oil from morocco a few weeks ago, I have been using it for almost 2 years and I really loved it is amazing. I get the best results ever. clear tight skin and I use it on my hair as well! it makes the hair looks healthy and soft. Also, it's wonderful for sunbathing it gives a healthy gold brownish skin. btw I have not tried another brand in some stores they mix a little bit of Argan oil with other oils and end up buying the fake stuff (For Argan Oil information and sales, see items at ebay)

will recommend it to anyone.

People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that’s what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that’s holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life. A true soul mate is probably the most important person you’ll ever meet ,because they tear down your walls and smack you awake. But to live with a soul mate forever? Nah. Too painful. Soul mates, they come into your life just to reveal another layer of yourself to you, and then they leave.

Instructions for Freedom

Life’s metaphors are God’s instructions.
You have just climbed up and above the roof. There is nothing between you and Infinite. Now, let go.
The days is ending. It’s time for something that was beautiful to turn into something else that is beautiful. Now, let go.
Your wish for resolution was a prayer. Your being here is God’s response. Let go and watch the stars come out—-on the outside and on the inside.
With all your heart, ask for grace, and let go.
With all your heart, forgive him, FORGIVE YOURSELF, and let go.
Let your intention be freedom from useless suffering. Then, let go.
Watch the heat of day pass into the cool night. Let go.
When the karma of a relationship is done, only love remains. It’s safe. Let go.
When the past has passed from you at last, let go. Then climb down and begin the rest of your life. With great joy.
